Suspicious mobile phone store employee injured in attempted robbery

Two people were shot dead Tuesday afternoon in an attempted armed robbery at a store in a mall in northeast Baltimore. I-Team has learned that the two people shot include the suspect and an employee of the cellphone store where the shooting occurred. At that point, the store employees told the customer that they would not be able to help him. Police say the customer then exited the store and shortly after returned with a handgun and announced a robbery. employees began to grapple with the suspect over the weapon when she fired, hitting another store employee in the leg. The handgun fell to the ground, at which point the victim who was shot in the leg picked up the handgun and shot the suspect in the abdomen. The police were then called. An employee who spoke with 11 News who was not injured said the suspect appeared to be a routine customer looking at a tablet in the store when he pulled out the gun. “(There was) only one gun, never anything more than that,” Carlos, a store employee, said. Asked about his colleague who was injured in the shooting, Carlos told 11 News: “Luckily we were told he will be fine. It was a leg injury, but other than that he is fine.” Police say the victim and suspect suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital. Police said the suspect will be charged with attempted armed robbery, reckless endangerment and various handgun violations upon discharge from the hospital. Investigators said they had no similar problems at this mall.

Two people were shot dead Tuesday afternoon in an attempted armed robbery at a store in a mall in northeast Baltimore.

City Police said two people were shot at around 1.39pm on Tuesday at the Metro PCS Store in the 5400 block of Sinclair Lane.

11 News’ I-Team has learned that among the two people shot dead are the suspect and an employee of the cell phone shop where the shooting occurred.

Police say a preliminary investigation reveals a customer entered the store around 1:25 p.m. looking for customer service. At that time, the store employees told the customer that they could not help him.

According to police, the customer then left the store and returned shortly after with a handgun and announced a robbery.

At one point, one of the store employees began to wrestle the suspect over the gun when she fired, hitting another store employee in the leg. The handgun fell to the ground, at which point the victim who was shot in the leg picked up the handgun and shot the suspect in the abdomen. The police were then called.
