Greater Noida: 5 arrested for stealing 185 mobile phones from the store | News from Noida

GREATER NOIDA: Five people were arrested on Friday for allegedly breaking into a store and stealing 185 mobile phones worth Rs 20 lakh in the Kasna area of ​​Greater Noida last month.
The defendants – Anand Singh, Hira Singh, Changa and Ghanshyam Lal are from Agra and Sanjeev from the Jewar region of Greater Noida – were convicted under Sections 380 (theft from a dwelling house), 457 (night burglary to commit an offence), and other relevant sections of the IPC.
“The five accused worked in shops near the mobile shop and had explored the area before committing the crime. The store belonged to Yatendra Nagar, a resident of the Dankaur area near the Kasna bus station. They broke into the store by cutting its shutter and stole 185 smartphones,” added DCP Vishal Pandey said.
A complaint was filed at the Kasna police station. “With the help of the scientific, local and zonal police, an investigation was opened. Based on CCTV footage, the accused were identified and three police teams were deployed to catch them. On Friday, four of them were arrested from Site-5, Greater Noida under Kasna Police Station,” Pandey said.
Police recovered 112 mobile phones worth Rs 15 lakh. “The four defendants had distributed the mobile phones among themselves and kept them in their possession. The fifth defendant, Changa, was arrested by Agra Police under the Weapons Act for another case and sent to jail, has the rest of the cellphones. He is on our constant radar and we will soon be recovering the remaining mobile phones of the fifth accused,” said Santosh Kumar, SHO of Kasna Police Station.
ADCP Pandey also said employers should always have their employees checked by the police to avoid such incidents. “The accused worked in other stores and the cell phone store had been on their target for at least a month,” he said.
